The notebook
Between Sessions
The guides on this site are meant to settle things — run the checklist, fix the distance, read what the vendor published, move on with your day. This is where the unsettled material goes.
Between Sessions is our notebook: the customs worth examining rather than inheriting, the vendor claims that moved this month and need a dated marker driven into them, and the parts of session sound that do not reduce to a numbered list. Some of these pieces are arguments. Some are just receipts. All of them are technology and practice-custom writing, never clinical guidance — the standing boundary described on our about page applies here exactly as it does everywhere else.
The name is literal. These are the things worth thinking about in the ten minutes between one hour and the next.

20 September 2026 · dated note Krisp's free tier is now a help-centre rumour
The 60-minutes-a-day free plan is documented in Krisp's help centre and absent from its pricing page. What we can verify, what we cannot, and why a site that prints dates has to care about the gap.

You monitor your own audio constantly and theirs almost never. A reversal of perspective on the half of the session you cannot hear — and the four things to listen for.

12 September 2026 · essay A custom, not a standard
The white-noise machine outside the therapy door is one of the most widely observed habits in private practice, and one of the least examined. What happens when you take it seriously enough to ask what it is for.
What tends to show up here
Customs, examined. Practice habits are transmitted by imitation, which means they are rarely stated clearly enough to evaluate. We find that stating them clearly is usually enough — the good ones survive it easily, and the ones that do not turn out to have been doing nothing for years.
Dated markers. Vendor pages change quietly. When a price moves, a plan disappears, or a compliance statement is reworded, we drive a stake in the ground with a date on it. Our BAA record is the formal version of this; the notebook is where the change gets noticed first.
The residue. Whatever will not fit in a guide because it is an argument rather than an instruction.
